Description
Isdalen up to Ulriken is a little used but very nice walk in varied terrain with nice viewpoints.
Start the trip on Tarlebøveien along the Svartediket. Turn right at the signs for Isdalen. Also take the next road to the right over a small bridge and follow the gravel road to the end. Here there are signs to Isdalen, but the start of the path is difficult to spot. Look for the sign with an arrow showing where to go. The path is quite overgrown at the beginning but not difficult to follow. Halfway up Isdalen you are above the tree line and the rest of the trip is in lush and idyllic mountain terrain.
Just before the top, there is a steep section, but it is not difficult to climb. Maybe a little slippery to go down on rainy days. At the top you meet the path over Vidden and can choose to go right towards Ulriken, or turn left towards Fløyen. From Ulriken, there are many options down, including the Sherpa stairs Oppstemten or the new Ulriksbanen, which will open in August 2021.
